1. The Cabin in the Woods- A hilarious, original, creepy, and nerd lover's homage dream to the horror genre.
2. John Carpenter's The Thing- The most gruesome/violent, and real looking sci-fi horror films, ever.
3. George Romero's Night of the Living Dead- The original zombie horror classic that started it all.
4. Alien- Like The Thing, it mixes original sci-fi, with claustrophobic horror, almost perfectly.
5. Evil Dead 2- A comically violent, disturbing, and scary treat for aspiring independent film makers.
6. John Carpenter's Halloween- The inspiration of slasher films, right next to Psycho this horrifying independent slasher, is in an inspiration
7. 28 Days Later- An original take on the "zombie" genre, and a whole new face to realistic horror.
8. Wes Craven's A Nightmare on Elm St.- Simply, it really does make you afraid to ever sleep again.
9. The Evil Dead- Is it funny, no one really knows, is it violent, extremely, is it an awesomely low budget horror movie that is creepy as hell? Oh yes.
10.George Romero's Dawn of the Dead- As one of the best sequels of all time, George Romero, proves he is the master.
11. Paranormal Activity- Some people say it doesn't scare them. I don't believe them.
12. Dawn of the Dead (2004)- An action packed, stylized, zombie thriller. Not too scary...but running zombies? That's scary.
